West Yellowstone also has convenience and grocery stores in town where you can get more toiletries or stock up on some snacks for your day exploring Yellowstone National Park. We recommend Food Roundup on Dunraven Street – our cousin/niece works there and it’s a friendly atmosphere with a good selection for a small town grocer.

Staying in West Yellowstone will place you right by all of these amenities while also being just a few minutes away from the park’s west entrance.

Book Early for Your West Yellowstone Accommodation

Remember that West Yellowstone is the busiest entrance for the park in high season so a line of cars can sometimes back up at the entrance, but usually, the line goes pretty fast.

The west entrance to Yellowstone is closed to vehicles during the winter months, typically from early November to late April, depending on weather and road conditions. Check road closures before arriving for your trip. If the west entrance is closed, you can access Yellowstone from the north entrance by Gardiner, MT.
